About World of Diamonds

World of Diamonds is where discriminating consumers from Arizona and beyond go to find a diamond inventory that surpasses $15 million in G.I.A. (Gemological Institute of America) graded diamonds. While every jewelry store sells diamonds, few have many that are larger than one or two carats. At World of Diamonds you will find a vast inventory of large diamonds, some loose and many already mounted in sizes up to 20 carats.

While there are a limited number of stores in Arizona that carry any sizable inventory in larger G.I.A. graded diamonds, the prices are often much higher than those found on the Internet. That is, until World of Diamonds opened its doors in Phoenix four years ago. World of Diamonds has expanded to serve its growing clientele and is now in Scottsdale. World of Diamonds is located in the Am Trust bank tower between Dillards and Neiman
Marcus, just an elevator ride away from Scottsdale Fashion Square. There, above it all, the most discriminating of consumers go to make their purchases. Whether it is an intricate custom piece that you design or a twenty carat tennis bracelet with the finest ideal cut stones, you will find it all at World of Diamonds.

Meet our Staff

Michael Orticelli received his bachelor of fine arts degree in sculpture at the State University of New York at Purchase, NY. He enjoyed applying his talents of design and composition in 3-dimensional forms to as many different materials as he could find.

Michael's talents in jewelry design and his eye for the unique yet classic form garnered the attention of several successful jewelry design firms at an early point in his career. He was invited to apprentice for Larry Keller, the master designer for Seidengang Designs, who taught Michael how to see jewelry as fine art, and not to settle or cut corners when it came to either the designing of precious jewelry.

After apprenticing for Seidengang for two years, Michael went on to work for David Yurman. Even though this experience opened his eyes to the modern applications of mass-production in jewelry, Michael grew dissatisfied with large production techniques. Instead, he wanted to focus his skills on his own unique designs, and the crafting of custom one-of-a-kind jewelry, and short-run limited edition pieces. In the summer of 1999, Michael relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, one of the country's capitals for custom designer jewelry. He has since built a reputation here in the Phoenix area for creating truly unique custom jewelry through involvement directly with the customer.

The popularity of Michael's work continues to grow as a hallmark of difference in an industry so focused on creating clones. Each piece is designed to be not only an exceptionally crafted complement to the wearer, but also a striking and beautiful work of fine art.
